About Us

Immigrating Youth Texas (IYT) started at a protest, with three strangers brought together by a shared urgency, witnessing the pain of a system that leaves children behind. From that moment, IYT became more than a movement. It became a promise.

We exist for the children who are displaced, overlooked, and forgotten whether they crossed a border or were born into broken systems here in the U.S. We fight for those caught in policies that treat them as problems instead of people. Children who deserve safety, care, and a chance to heal.

IYT was built to protect them all of them, at all costs.

We work through advocacy, education, healing-centered action, and collective power. Our vision is to build the first self-sustaining sanctuary in Texas for displaced youth. A shelter where they are not just housed, but held, empowered, and equipped to rebuild their lives.

This began as a reaction.
Now, it's a movement with roots.
And we won’t stop until every child has what they deserve: dignity, safety, and a future.

Our Vision

We envision a future where every child displaced by harsh immigration laws is given more than just temporary safety they are given the space, support, and resources to heal, grow, and reclaim their lives with dignity.

By 2026, our mission is to open the first self-sustaining sanctuary in Texas specifically designed for displaced youth. This will not be a typical shelter. It will be a living, breathing community rooted in care, justice, and sustainability. Built and sustained by the people it serves, this sanctuary will offer access to mental health and medical care through partnerships with community health professionals. It will grow its own food through a thriving community garden. It will operate with renewable energy to reflect our commitment to the future. Most importantly, it will be shaped by the belief that every child deserves more than survival they deserve to thrive.

This shelter is just the beginning. Our long-term vision is to create a national model for youth sanctuaries across the country. These spaces will be led by communities, powered by love, and built for the children most often left behind.

We are not here to fit into broken systems. We are here to build something better.
A home. A future. A movement that will not be silenced.
